The VoiceBox is a small arts centre situated
close to Derby city centre; its facilities are available for hire by arts
and other community organisations. Click on ‘The VoiceBox and Events’
for description of the facilities and for hiring details.
The centre is privately
owned and managed by its two directors, Ann & Colin Miller.
Ann Miller B.Ed
(Hons), LRAM, ARCM
is a professional musician whose background embraces solo performing,
singing teaching, choral conducting and mainstream education posts as
Director of Music. The core around which The VoiceBox is built is Ann’s
large singing teaching and vocal coaching practice, currently with a team of
five teachers. The tutors operate at The VoiceBox and in local
schools, providing tuition from beginner to post-diploma and professional
level. They also provide training services on request in other
corporate and arts organisations.
Colin Miller BA,
FCMA, FCCA
is an accountant by training; and for many years worked as a financial
manager and management consultant. He manages the administrative and
financial functions of the centre; including the substantial business of
hiring out its excellent performance and conference/meetings facilities. His
lifelong involvement in music and financial management now come together in
his role at The VoiceBox, where he is also one of the five vocal coaches and
takes responsibility for corporate training services.
